SAP HANA Hardware and Cloud Measurement Tool
- The SAP HANA Hardware and Cloud Measurement Tool (HCMT) tests hardware to ensure it meets minimum performance criteria for production use.
- HCMT provides tests and reports for new single-host and scale-out systems.
- The tool measures whether planned hardware (or cloud) meets SAP's requirements for satisfactory base performance and usage.
- Results are saved in a file for upload to SAP HANA hardware and cloud measurement analysis for further analysis and reporting.
- The HCMT tool is downloadable from the SAP Support Portal and the analysis tool is online.
Downloading and Installing the Tool
- Download the HCMT application using the SAP Support Portal.
- Download the latest version of the SAPCAR tool and the latest version of SAP Note 2493172.
- Install the tool using the
hcmtsetup
application. - Ensure you have a valid S-user for access to the SAP Support Portal.
System Configuration and Performance Measurement
- The HCMT performs tests to determine if the planned system meets SAP HANA deployment requirements.
- The tool executes automated tests, including network tests, file system tests, system management tests, and CPU benchmarks.
- Two execution plans,
executionplan.json
andfull_executionplan.json
are available. The latter has a longer test duration. - The tool checks CPU performance (benchmark tests), including floating point and integer arithmetic operations per second.
- NUMA node memory latency, bandwidth, and timer behavior are also tested.
- File system write and read tests measure data throughput and latency.
- Network topology tests measure network performance between computer nodes, checking the system process tree and management BIOS data.
- File system mounts and running processes are analyzed.

Analyzing the Measurement Results
