Waste of Overproduction
- Overproduction is producing more than the next step needs or more than the customer buys.
- It may be the worst form of waste as it contributes to all the others.
- Examples include:
- Preparing extra reports that may not be needed.
- Creating reports that are not acted upon or even read.
- Maintaining multiple copies of data in storage.
- Over-ordering materials.
- Duplication of effort or reports.
