Present Simple Tense
- Used to describe habits, general truths, repeated actions, unchanging situations, emotions, wishes
- One of the most common tenses in English
When to Use the Present Simple
- Habits and routines: "I drink coffee every morning."
- Facts and general truths: "The sun rises in the east."
- Permanent situations: "She lives in New York."
- Schedules: "The train leaves at 8 PM."
Structure of the Present Simple
- Affirmative: Subject + Base Verb (+s/es for third person singular)
- Example: "He reads books."
- Negative: Subject + do/does not + Base Verb
- Example: "I do not like spicy food"
