Attendance and Tardiness
- A cadet must call 221-8505 to avoid being marked tardy if running late.
- Tardiness is considered if a cadet is late to roll call, returning from break, or returning from lunch.
- A third tardy results in a written warning.
Academy Notebook Requirements
- The notebook must be hand printed in standard outline format.
- Only black ink is permitted for entries.
Note Taking
- Retention without notes is below 20%.
- Note-taking is a digest of essential ideas in the student's own words.
- It requires listening, hearing, and comprehension to be effective.
Tardy Consequences
- A first and second tardy results in a verbal warning.
Absences and Appeals
- A cadet cannot miss more than 50 hours of instruction.
- Terminated cadets can appeal in writing within 24 hours to the Director.
Honor Violation
- Cadets must notify the Academy Coordinator within 48 hours of any arrest.
Exam Requirements
- Minimum passing score on exams: 80%.
- Minimum score on the 1st Responder exam: 85%.
- Cadets cannot fail two tests in a row to remain in the program.
- Each cadet is allowed two retests; failing a retest results in program dismissal.
- Cadets must pass both the mid-term and final examinations.
