Philippine Constitution: Article IV - Citizenship

• Those who are citizens:
  • Filipinos at the time of the Constitution's adoption
  • Fathers or mothers are citizens of the Philippines
  • Born before January 17, 1973, of Filipino mothers who choose Philippine citizenship upon reaching the age of majority
  • Those naturalized according to the law
• Natural-born citizens:

  • Those who elect Philippine citizenship based on Section 1, paragraph (3) are considered natural-born citizens.
• Philippine citizenship:
  • Can be lost or reacquired according to the law

  • Dual allegiance is inimical to the national interest and is addressed by law.
