City Property Return and PPE Maintenance
- Supervisors must confirm that all city property is returned by separating members, ensuring it is complete and in proper order.
- Turnout pants and coats are to be cleaned every six months by the Department's authorized vendor exclusively for repairs or modifications.
Authorized Repairs and Modifications
- Authorized repairs for personal protective equipment (PPE) include:
- Repairing rips and tears
- Replacing metal fasteners, wristlets, and knee pads
- Adding or replacing pockets and pouches, reflective material, and Velcro
- Modifications that change coat or pant closure systems, such as replacing snaps with zippers or relocations of radio pockets, are prohibited.
PPE Repair Process
- Members must fill out two copies of the "Brush 1 PPE Repair Request" form available on the intranet.
- The Station Commander is responsible for reviewing the request for completeness and necessity, ensuring PPE is free from gross debris.
- Contaminated PPE should be sealed in a trash bag and labeled appropriately.
Lost or Damaged Items Procedures
- Members must report lost or damaged nameplates, insignia, belt buckles, or tie bars using a F-225 letterhead report to the Personnel Services Section.
- Immediate Chief Officer must assess if the loss was due to negligence, affecting potential replacement costs.
- Members must appear in person to secure and pay for replaced items once informed.
Badge Replacement
- A member who loses a badge must file a lost badge report (F-225) through proper channels and also involve the local law enforcement agency to file a report.
Mini-Radiac Repair/Replacement Process
- Members having issues with Mini-Radiacs should notify their station commander immediately.
- The station commander relays findings to the Division Hazardous Materials Company for troubleshooting.
- If the issue persists, an F-175 tag is attached, and the Mini-Radiac is exchanged with the Battalion Staff Assistant.
Escape Hood Provision and Replacement
- One Escape Hood is provided for each position on front-line apparatus and specialized roles.
- Replacement for damaged Escape Hoods can be obtained from the Department’s Medical Supply Officer on a one-for-one basis.
- To replace lost or stolen Escape Hoods, submit a police report along with an SRS order and an F-225 through channels to the Bureau Commander.
Auto-Injectors Supply
- Each position on all apparatus is supplied with three Mark I Auto-Injectors for emergency use.
