Paediatric Defibrillation
- Use LP1000 AED with paediatric pads for children up to 8 years old
- If no LP1000 available, use the LP15 with adult pads for children up to 8 years old
- For children under 8 years old, use the LP15 in manual mode and dial down the energy to 4J per kg.
- For children under 8 years old, if unsure about energy setting, defibrillate without dialing down the energy.
- For children 8 years old and over, defibrillate without dialing down the energy.
- Use the LP15 with the adult pads in either the anterior-lateral or anterior/posterior position.
- Check blood glucose level (BM) and temperature.
- Correct low blood glucose and aim to keep the patient normothermic (36 to 37.5 degrees C).
- Paediatric pads will not fit the LP15 units
Pediatric Defibrillation - Under 18
- Use LP1000 for all children under 18
- Use LP15 for metronome (15:2) and ETCO2
- LP1000 is NOT available for children under 8 - use LP15 with Adult pads.
