- Authority: Fire Rescue Administrator
- Scope: Applies to all Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel and reservists.
- Policy: Commits to delivering quality service, identifying deficiencies, and creating professional development plans to improve performance.

Procedure:
- Professional development aims to improve personnel performance.
- If performance is below average, a Professional Development Form is required. It involves identifying the problem, considering PPM FR-A-105 (Development) for documentation, and documenting training issues using the form.
- Employees can complete the Professional Development Form. The employee records the specific job-related area requiring improvement (e.g., drafting, drug calculation issues, training problems, policy/procedure violations).
- The employee’s Battalion Chief and District Chief will develop a plan to track employee progress. This includes supervision and meetings.
- Successful development results in demonstrably improved job performance, documented in the form.
- Completed Professional Development Forms (with action plans) are electronically sent to the Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Fire Rescue training log.
- If professional development occurs during training with Training and Safety Division instructors, these instructors complete the form.
- Maximum 18 shifts of professional development are allocated per shift employee, with any additional needs directed to the Division Chief of Training and Safety.
