Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Development Policy

The Division Chief of Training and Safety works with the PPM Committee to make changes to the policy under the Fire Rescue Administrator's approval.

The employee's supervisor and District Chief regularly monitor their progress with the employee and the assigned Battalion Command Staff.

Successful completion of the "Professional Development" plan is demonstrated through achieving the performance goals defined in the action plan.

All completed "Professional Development Forms" and action plans are electronically sent to the Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Fire Rescue's training log.

If professional development is required during on-duty training, the Training and Safety Division instructors complete the "Professional Development Form" and send it to the employee's Battalion Chief.

Shift personnel can be assigned a maximum of 18 shifts for professional development. If more time is needed, the situation is referred to the Division Chief of Training and Safety for further action.

The Fire Rescue Administrator has the overall authority for this policy.
