General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq's Government (1985-1988)
- General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq took oath as President for the next 5 years on March 23rd, 1985, under the restored constitution.
- Elections were held on a non-party basis, and Muhammad Khan Junejo, a Sind-based politician, was appointed as Prime Minister.
8th Amendment Bill (December 1985)
- The Parliament passed the 8th Amendment Bill, which legalized all steps taken by Zia-ul-Haq and changes made to the constitution.
