Union Business Leave Provisions

• Members may be granted paid leave to attend up to three seminars in a year or variations involving three members attending one seminar each, with a cap of three total leaves per contract year.
• Two members can receive paid leave to attend the bi-annual International Convention, contingent on not impairing Fire Department operations.
• Leave duration covers the actual seminar or convention days, a maximum of five calendar days, plus up to two days of necessary travel.

Meeting Attendance Provisions

• Executive Board members can take unpaid time off to attend monthly and special meetings of the Union, limited to two meetings per month, while maintaining Fire Department operations.
• Members of the negotiating team (maximum of four) are allowed unpaid leave for negotiation meetings mutually scheduled by the Employer and Union.

Administrative Roles and Responsibilities

• The President of the International Association of Firefighters Local 176 holds a special administrative position with 40 hours dedicated to advancing Union/Management relations.
• The President's pay matches his/her regular assignment, with conditions specified in a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 12, 1994.

Election and Executive Board Provisions

• Up to three elected Trustees can take paid time off to transport ballot boxes for elections regarding employee representatives and Union positions.
• Any two Union Executive Board members may take up to three hours of paid leave to attend monthly Executive Board Meetings, provided it does not impair Fire Department operations.
• Additional time off for Executive Board members can potentially be authorized by the Fire Chief, upon a ten-calendar-day advance request.
