Omaha Police Department (OPD) Marksmanship Team Policy
- OPD authorizes a marksmanship team to represent the city at firearm matches across the US
- Team members are responsible for their own expenses (travel, lodging, meals, etc.)
- Team membership is voluntary

- OPD officers on the team acquire weapons, ammunition, and related equipment for competitions
- OPD uniform vouchers may be issued for team gear and marksmanship kits for active members

Selection of Team Members

Tryouts occur during the first quarter of each year

Tryouts take place at the OPD Public Safety Training Center at designated times

Firearm Marksmanship Match Schedules and Attendance
- Matches must be approved by the Firearms Training Sergeant
- A list of approved matches, types, locations/dates is created during the first quarter
- Special Duty to attend approved matches may require approval via chain of command
- There is a limit on Special Duty days for Team members, and alternates, (maximum four 8-hour shifts per year)
- The Team year starts March 1st and ends February of the following year
- Members may attend non-approved matches, but cannot wear OPD uniforms or use OPD equipment during non-approved events
