- This policy outlines guidelines for parking at OPD Headquarters and surrounding areas. All information is confidential.
Parking Assignments
- Employees must adhere to specific stall assignments.
- Deputy Chiefs and Directors are responsible for assigning stalls within their bureaus.
- A chart detailing assignments is provided.
- Reserved stalls are marked with white placards.
- Non-reserved stalls lack individual numbering.
- Parking assignments may be identified on an attached chart.
Privately Owned Vehicles (POVs)

Employees using private vehicles must park in designated POV stalls, as indicated on maps and the assigned chart.

Entry to OPD parking is only permitted from Jackson Street or 14th Street.

If a suitable POV stall is available, the employee should park immediately.

If an unassigned stall is unavailable, the employee should leave the lot and park elsewhere.

Employees will not form lines to wait for stalls.

Unattended vehicles parked inappropriately may be towed at the owner's expense.

Parking is prohibited within the alley between OPD Headquarters and Mid-City Jewelry and Loan (located at the corner of 15th and Jackson Streets).

Stall #115 is for volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis. It is not for interns.

Employees planning to stay longer than 24 hours must leave keys with the Fleet and Facilities Coordinator.

Police Vehicles

Police vehicles are assigned stalls according to their respective bureaus (as listed), as indicated on charts and diagrams.

The Deputy Chief/Director will assign the appropriate stalls.

The assigned information, including vehicle number, VAN number, and license number , will be given to the Fleet and Facilities Coordinator.

Unauthorized OPD vehicle parking must be reported immediately to the appropriate Deputy Chief/Director or designee.

OPD vehicles should be in assigned stalls; exceptions require explicit permission from the assigned stall user.

Mid-sized or smaller vehicles should park on 15th Street (in stalls #181-192). Larger vehicles cannot fit.

OPD cruisers are too long for certain stalls and require back-in angle parking.
Traffic Control
- Parking lot entry is exclusively from 14th Street or Jackson Street.
- Entry from Jackson Street requires an immediate right turn to either find a stall or the garage entrance.
- Exiting is possible via the alley to 15th Street or by turning southbound in the lot.
- Exits to 14th Street or returns to the parking lot are prohibited for returning to the garage.
- Traffic flow is one-way in certain alleys and lanes, needing careful observance of signs.
Sworn Employee Parking Placards
- Employees without assigned stalls will receive placards for parking in designated areas.
- Placards are for use during working hours only in specific parking meter locations.
- Placards are not duplicable or to be used for non-working activities.
