  • SCM is responsible for annual Physical Stock Taking (PST) exercise for all materials in collaboration with Finance and Accounts.
  • Certain items require special storage conditions to prevent damage from moisture, pollution, and sunlight.
  • Manufacturers preserve spare parts with preservatives and sealed polythene bags; bearings come with oil type preservative and greasy paper wrapping.
  • Items without protective coating or sealed polythene packing need to be coated with Shell Ensis Fluid or equivalent product and then sealed in plastic bags.
  • CCTV and adequate surveillance are required for material storage locations.
  • Warehouses or stores should be enclosed with concrete wall fencing of reasonable height and avoided using chain link fencing as security fencing.
  • Warehousing Section exists in each SBU with different types of warehouses/stores: Chemical Warehousing, Plant Spares Warehousing, General Goods Warehousing, Satellite Stores, Projects/TAM Stores, and Preservation Issue Bay.
  • NNPC Limited is committed to observance and maintenance of high Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HSE) standards.
  • Safety inspections/maintenance schedules are carried out periodically and all warehouse staff must be adequately equipped with the right personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • DM Warehouse reviews the Preservation Logbook weekly and makes recommendations; if preservation work is required, prepares a programme and budget for completion and forwards to SCM Warehouse for approval.
  • Warehouse Officer updates the logbook once preservation work is completed.
  • Stock Check officer comments on the effectiveness of preservation process in their report.
  • Warehouse Input & Output Documents include Warehouse Tag, Preservation Logbook, Preservation Work Programme, and Stock Report Template.
