Ordered-Off Period and Substitutions
- The ordered-off period is four minutes of playing time and begins when play restarts.
- After the ordered-off period, a substitute may return to the court at the next break in play.
- The substitute returns to the original playing position of the ordered-off player.
Game Management and Discipline
- Team officials and bench players must remain at the team bench during play, except for valid reasons (e.g., warming up).
- Bench players may leave the team bench for a valid reason, but must return to the team bench during play.
- Sanction for bench movement: free pass to the non-infringing team.
Criticism and Interruption
- Team officials and bench players must not criticise the umpires or their decisions.
- They must not use offensive, insulting, or abusive language and/or gestures.
- They must not use excessive noise or interruption.
Substitutions and Team Changes
- There is no limit to the number of substitutions and/or team changes during a match.
- However, if the number of requests becomes frivolous, the umpires may refuse the request and/or penalise the infringing team.
Procedures
- The umpires must hold time for injury/illness, active bleeding, or open wounds.
- They may hold time for emergencies or extreme circumstances.
Stoppages
- During a stoppage, players not affected or being substituted remain on the court.
- Both umpires remain on their respective side lines.
- Team officials are not permitted on the court except as specified in Rule 10.
Emergencies
- The umpires may hold time or extend an interval in the event of serious injury/illness, court issues, or technical equipment problems.
- The umpires, in conjunction with the event organiser, decide the length of the stoppage and ensure play restarts as soon as possible.
