Muscels of the Back and Upper Limb

Trapezius:
- Origin: Ligamentum nuchae and spines of vertebrae C7 to T12.
- Insertion: Lateral clavicle, acromion, and spine of the scapula.
- Action: Elevates, retracts, and rotates the scapula.
- Innervation: Cranial Nerve XI (spinal accessory) and spinal nerves C3–C4.
Latissimus Dorsi:
- Origin: Spines of vertebrae T6 to T12, thoracolumbar fascia, and iliac crest.
- Insertion: Intertubercular groove of the humerus.
- Action: Extends, adducts, and medially rotates the humerus.
- Innervation: Thoracodorsal nerve.
Levator Scapulae:
- Origin: Transverse processes of cervical vertebrae C1 to C4.
- Insertion: Superior medial border of the scapula.
- Action: Elevates the scapula.
- Innervation: Dorsal scapular nerve and spinal nerves C3 and C4.
Rhomboid Minor:
- Origin: Spines of vertebrae C7 to T1.
- Insertion: Inferior medial border of the scapula.
- Action: Retracts and rotates the scapula.
- Innervation: Dorsal scapular nerve.
Rhomboid Major:
- Origin: Spines of vertebrae T2 to T5.
- Insertion: Inferior medial border of the scapula.
- Action: Retracts and rotates the scapula.
- Innervation: Dorsal scapular nerve.
Serratus Posterior Superior:
- Origin: Spines of vertebrae C7 to T3.
- Insertion: Superior border of ribs 2 to 5.
- Action: Elevates the ribs.
- Innervation: Intercostal nerves T2 to T5.
Serratus Posterior Inferior:
- Origin: Spines of vertebrae T11 to L2.
- Insertion: Inferior border of ribs 8 to 12.
- Action: Depresses the ribs.
- Innervation: Intercostal nerves T9 to T12.
