Inserting Tables in MS Word

  • To insert an empty table, click Table in the Insert tab to display the Insert Table gallery.
  • To insert a more customized empty table, click Insert Table below the grid in the Insert Table gallery.
  • To insert a less clearly defined empty table, click Draw Table below the grid in the Insert Table gallery.
  • The user can specify the number of rows and columns in the Insert Table dialog box.
  • The user can draw cells directly in the document to create a table by clicking Draw Table below the grid in the Insert Table gallery.
  • To move the cursor from cell to cell, use the keyboard by pressing the Tab key or the Arrow keys.
  • When the cursor is in a table, two Table Tools contextual tabs appear on the ribbon: Design and Layout.
