    Purpose

    Scope

    • Guidelines apply to all KCFD personnel taking and returning from Military Leave.

    Guidelines

    • Applicable to annual active duty for training, drills, or exercises, not exceeding 15 days in a federal fiscal year (October 1st to September 30th).
    • Includes two weeks of annual training and any authorized training.
    • Immediate notification to the supervisor is required upon learning of military leave necessity.

    Notification Process

    • A copy of military orders must be forwarded to the Chief Officer.
    • Chief Officer maintains a copy in the member's file and forwards another to the Payroll Department.
    • Monitoring of time used for military leave is the responsibility of the Chief Officer.

    Military Leave Allocation

    • Authorized military leave is capped at 120 hours of paid leave per federal fiscal year.
