Medical Terminology - HOSA

• Medical Terminology is a Health Science Event for Secondary & Postsecondary/Collegiate divisions
• The solo event consists of 1 competitor
• In Round 1 there is a 100 question test in 90 minutes, with no digital upload.
• Editorial updates have been made for 2024-2025
• The event helps members gain skills regarding prefixes, suffixes, word roots, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and occupations related to health
• The competitive event is a written test with tiebreaker questions
• The event aims to inspire members to learn about terms used in health professions and specialties

• Proper business attire or official HOSA uniform is required, with bonus points awarded for proper dress.
• Competitors must provide a Photo ID and two #2 lead pencils with an eraser

Written Test Details

• The written test includes 100 multiple-choice questions, completed within 90 minutes.
• There will be twenty (20) tiebreaker questions administered with the original test.
• There will be NO verbal announcements for time remaining during ILC testing.
• All ILC testing will be completed in the Testing Center, and competitors are responsible for monitoring their own time.

Final Scoring

• In case of a tie, successive sets of five tiebreaker questions will be used until a winner is determined
• Correct spelling is required for an item to be considered correct in the tiebreaker
