- Calculability is the use of formulas, calculations, and the adoption of quantity over quality.
- Control is the utilization of technology for reliability and monitoring.
Media and Cultural Globalization
- Media is a means of conveying something, and is classified into: print, broadcast, digital, and internet.
- There are five time periods of media:
- Oral Medium: the oldest and most enduring of all media
- Script: refers to the written word, including petroglyphs, cuneiform, and hieroglyphics
- Printing Press: commenced the information revolution
- Electronic Media: the use of electricity for its access, including television
- Digital Media: digitized content transmitted over the internet or computer networks
Global Cities
- A global city is a hub of development, representing and containing the world in a bounded space.
- Also known as power city, world city, alpha city, or world center.
- Characterized by:
