Management Rights

Payroll Deduction of Dues

Grievance and Arbitration Procedure

Hours of Work and Overtime
- The basic work period for bargaining unit employees in certain classifications is a 14-day work period, with a tour of duty consisting of 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
- Battalion Chiefs are exempt employees and will be paid an annual salary, with hours worked beyond their regular schedule not eligible for extra pay.
- Captains will be compensated at the regular hourly rate for hours worked up to 106 in a 14-day work period, and at time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 106.
- Overtime shall be compensated at time and one-half the employee's regular rate of pay.
Probationary Period
- Promotional probationary employees must complete a 6-month probationary period before being regularly appointed to their new position.
- If the employee fails to demonstrate their ability to perform the job, the County may grant a one-time extension of the probationary period or return the employee to their former position.
