Law Admission Test (LAT)

What is LAT?

• A standardized test for admission to LL.B programs in Pakistan
• Conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan

Purpose of LAT

• To assess the aptitude and knowledge of students seeking admission to law schools
• To ensure that students have a minimum level of knowledge and skills required for a law degree

LAT Test Format

• The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions
• Divided into three sections:
  1. English (30 questions): grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension
  2. General Knowledge (40 questions): current affairs, history, geography, and Islamic studies
  3. Analytical Reasoning (30 questions): logical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking

• English:
  • Grammar and sentence structure
  • Vocabulary and comprehension
  • Essay writing and précis
• General Knowledge:
  • Current affairs (national and international)
  • History of Pakistan and Islamic history
  • Geography of Pakistan and the world
  • Islamic studies and ethics
• Analytical Reasoning:
  • Logical reasoning and problem-solving
  • Critical thinking and argumentation

LAT Test Scoring

• Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark
• No negative marking for incorrect answers
• The test has a total of 100 marks

LAT Test Eligibility

• Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of education (HSSC or equivalent)
• Candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their HSSC or equivalent exam
