- This Act is known as the "Land Transportation and Traffic Code" and controls the registration and operation of motor vehicles and the licensing of owners, dealers, conductors, drivers, and similar matters.
Definitions
- "Motor Vehicle" refers to any vehicle propelled by power other than muscular power, using public highways, excluding certain vehicles like road rollers, trolley cars, and tractors used for agricultural purposes.
- Trailers with any number of wheels, attached to a motor vehicle, are classified as a separate motor vehicle with no power rating.
- "Passenger Automobiles" include vehicles like touring cars, command cars, speedsters, sports cars, roadsters, jeeps, and sedans, with a net allowable carrying capacity of not exceeding nine passengers.
- Motor vehicles with changed or rebuilt bodies, like jeepneys, jitneys, or station wagons, are classified as passenger automobiles if their net allowable carrying capacity does not exceed nine passengers.
- A motor vehicle registered for more than nine passengers is classified as a "truck".
