  • Racing is a Class B Misdemeanor offense, and a Class A Misdemeanor if the person has a previous conviction or was intoxicated or in possession of an open container (Sec. 235, 236).

  • Failing to stop or attempting to flee from a pursuing police vehicle with reckless conduct is a Class A Misdemeanor (Sec. 238).

  • Operating an open bed pickup truck or towing an open flatbed trailer with an underage occupant is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $25 and $200 (Sec. 241, 242).

  • Operators may not back their vehicle on a shoulder or roadway of a Limited-Access or Controlled-Access highway (Sec. 243).

  • Drivers should reduce their speed when approaching a hill crest, narrow winding roads, or railroad grade crossings (Sec. 245, 257).

  • Drivers are prohibited from parking alongside a highway, on the sidewalk, in an intersection, on a crosswalk, alongside roadwork, or on railroad tracks, bridges, or within a safety zone (Sec. 255, 256, 259, 260, 263).

  • Drivers may not stop in front of a public or private driveway for more than a moment (Sec. 257).

  • Drivers must park their vehicles parallel to the curb or road edge, within 18 inches, on a one-way road, in the direction of authorized traffic movement, and within 18 inches of the curb (Sec. 259, 260, 262).

  • Bus drivers must listen and look for approaching trains and not resume motion until it's safe to do so (Sec. 262).

  • Drivers should not impede normal and reasonable traffic flow by driving too slowly, except for safe operation or in compliance with law (Sec. 264).

  • Drivers may not travel through or in safety zones (Sec. 268).

  • Peace officers can move unattended vehicles that are obstructing traffic, reported stolen, believed to have been abandoned, will interfere with emergency services, or unlawfully parked and blocking a private driveway (Sec. 292).

  • Drivers may not enter limited access or controlled access roadways except at authorized entrances or exits (Sec. 292).

  • School bus drivers must indicate and stop drivers from resuming motion until the school bus driver indicates that it's safe to do so, and the bus's visual signal is no longer active (Sec. 296).

  • Drivers should stay in their lane on a multi-lane roadway, unless they're passing another vehicle, the roadway is divided into three lanes, or the roadway only permits one-way traffic (Sec. 299).
