Policy Series 800: Member's Health - FOP Lodge 99 Peer Support Specialists

• The Kansas City Missouri Police Department has a policy for members' health, which includes peer support specialists from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 99.

Overview

• The policy aims to assist all members in need of peer support.
• The FOP Lodge 99 will provide peer support specialists to members who require it.

Procedures

• Members who need or believe a member needs peer support can contact the FOP Lodge 99 Liaison or email [email protected].
• The FOP Lodge 99 Liaison will contact the Chief's Executive Officer or designee for approval when an incident requires a peer support specialist to receive:
  • Overtime compensation
  • Special Assignment

Responsibilities

• The FOP Lodge 99 will maintain a list of available peer support specialists.

Policy Adoption

• The policy was adopted by the Board of Police Commissioners on December 14, 2021.
• The policy was signed by Richard C. Smith, Chief of Police, and Mark C. Tolbert, Board President.

Distribution

• The policy is distributed to all department personnel, and is available on the Public View Master Index (Internet), Department Master Index (Intranet), and Policy Acknowledgement System (PASS).
