Inclusive education provides support for all students, regardless of their challenges, in a general education setting.
Students receive tailored instruction, support, and interventions to succeed in the core curriculum.
Students with disabilities are treated as capable as their peers.
Students with disabilities learn alongside their peers without disabilities in inclusive settings.

All children have the right to education and the opportunity to learn together.
Children should not be devalued or discriminated against due to differences.
Segregation is not justified for any reason.
Adults with disabilities advocate for inclusiveness.
Segregation breeds prejudice and fear and limits opportunities for respect and understanding.

Students learn better academically and socially in inclusive settings.
Inclusiveness fosters relationships and prepares students for life in the mainstream.
Inclusive education eliminates fears and promotes respect and understanding between students.
Any teaching or care provided in segregated settings can be provided in general education settings.
Inclusive education optimizes resources and is cost-effective when commitment and support are provided.

The Millenium Development Goals (MDG) aim to achieve universal primary education.
The MDGs were created from the UN Millennium Declaration to address global issues including poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, and discrimination against women.

When all students, regardless of any challenges they may have, are placed in age-appropriate general education classes in their own neighbourhood schools.
Students receive high-quality instruction, interventions and supports to enable success in the core curriculum.
Students with disabilities are considered fundamentally competent in the classroom and in the local school community.

All children have a right to education and to learn together.
Children should not be devalued or discriminated by being excluded.
There are no legitimate reasons for segregation.
Adults with disabilities describing themselves as survivors demanding an end to segregation.
Segregation teaches children to be fearful, ignorant and breeds prejudice.

Children do better academically and socially in inclusive settings.
Inclusion helps them develop relationships and prepare them for life in the mainstream.

The UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Education are 8 goals agreed to be achieved by 2015 by 189 UN Member States.
These goals address poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women.
Achieving universal primary education was a key target of the MDGs.
