Responsibilities and Duties of the Municipal Complex Officer

• The Municipal Complex Officer is responsible for combating crime and enforcing laws within their jurisdiction.
• The officer's responsibilities include protecting life and property, preventing and suppressing crime, apprehending violators of the law, preserving public order, and protecting the resources of the City of Port St. Lucie located on the municipal complex campus.
• In addition to the duties of the Neighborhood Policing Officer, the Municipal Complex Officer conducts routine security checks, reports for duty at assigned times, attends shift briefings, and is familiar with the structural layout of city buildings and employees.
• The officer provides security coverage at city meetings, including those of the City Council, and assists other components of the city government and police department.
• They review police reports, prepare supplements, and exchange information with N.P.B. officers assigned to patrol.
• The Municipal Complex Officer may serve as a member of various civic organizations and committees and participate in special duties within the department.
• The officer reports to a Dayshift District 2 NPD Sergeant as their immediate supervisor and performs random patrols of City Hall and the municipal complex campus.
• They advise the 9-1-1 dispatcher of all requests for service within the patrol area of the municipal complex campus and respond to initial police investigations in the lobby of the Police Department.
• The officer provides security for daily escorts between city offices and buildings and for regularly scheduled and special meetings of the City Council and other legislative bodies.
• It is the officer's responsibility to notify their immediate supervisor if they are not available to attend assigned meetings or duties.
• The Municipal Complex Officer is encouraged to participate in special duties within the department, such as SWAT, FTO, and Explorers.
• The officer must check their voice mail regularly and promptly for messages and leave a recorded message advising callers of a return date if absent for three or more days.
