Response Guidelines - Code 4

The purpose of this guideline is to provide standardized and predetermined responses to all incidents classified as Code 4 by Northwest Central Dispatch (NWCD).

Policy

The policy of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department is to follow this guideline, with the flexibility to alter responses based on information from NWCD or to achieve a faster response based on location and/or status of fire department apparatus and personnel.

Procedure for Code 4 Response

Upon requesting a Code 4 Response, all remaining in-service Hoffman Estates Fire Department apparatus will respond to the incident scene.
The response may be supplemented by Mutual Aid apparatus, if necessary, to total:
- 4 Engines
- 4 Ambulances
- 1 Squad
- 1 Tower
- 4 Staff Chiefs
- 1 Auto Aid Shift Commander
- 1 Auto Aid apparatus for RIC
- Hanover Township Emergency Management Agency

Mutual Aid and Station Assignments

For Code 4 responses, Station 21, 23, and 24 will receive a Mutual Aid change of quarters Engine.
Station 22 will receive a change of quarters Ambulance.
Chiefs are notified.
