Hoffman Estates Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines
- The Bell Works has been divided into five areas for emergency responses:
- Main building (2000 Center Drive)
- Training Center and Heliport (2501 Eagle Way)
- Office Building (2001 Lakewood)
- Parking Garage (two freestanding structures on the complex)
- All Other Grounds and Roadways
Emergency Operations Relating to the Main Building
- Medical Emergency Guidelines:
- Companies respond to medical emergencies at the main entrance closest to the emergency location
- If the location is unknown, report to the first floor center access and stage until directed to the emergency location
- AFAs or Structure Fire Guidelines:
- The Incident Commander reports to the ICS Control Room to determine the area of activation or coordinate smoke evacuation controls
- Station #22 companies stage their apparatus on the south side of Stem Road
- Station #23 companies stage on Lakewood and the East Ring Road
- Crews investigate the cause of the alarm using the closest available stairwell, equipped with full protective clothing and SCBAs
- Initial attack line is attached to the closest available standpipe to the fire
- Backup attack lines are laid from the floor below the fire floor or to the 2nd nearest standpipe connection on the fire floor
- The building's sprinkler and standpipe siamese is supplied by the second arriving engine company

- The parking garages pose unique challenges for fire suppression and medical emergencies due to their size, construction, and standpipe systems
- Emergency activities must follow Target Hazard Guideline 03 “Elevated Parking Buildings”
