General Callback Guidelines
- The purpose of these guidelines is to provide emergency coverage in the Village of Hoffman Estates during times of insufficient manpower.
Policy
- All personnel responding to a callback must follow applicable state laws regarding vehicle operation.
- Traffic control systems, stop signs, and speed limits must be obeyed in personal vehicles.
Procedure
- A General Callback situation is initiated by the Incident Commander or 610, who requests NWCD to send a callback message to specific stations or all stations.
- The number of personnel needed for callback is determined by the Incident Commander or 610.
- Personnel receiving the callback message must contact the Shift Commander or 610 to verify if a response is necessary.
- If a response is needed, personnel must report to their assigned station, pickup their protective equipment and normal work uniform, and communicate with the Shift Commander or 610 for assignments.
Callback Assignments
- Callback personnel may be assigned to:
- Assist mutual aid change of quarter’s companies at each station.
- Bring specific equipment or apparatus to the emergency scene.
- Place additional reserve apparatus in service if available.
Specialized Callbacks
- For SCUBA and TRS emergencies:
- The Incident Commander may request additional certified personnel through NWCD.
- For Haz-Mat emergencies:
- The Incident Commander may request additional certified personnel through NWCD.
- For Level 2 Haz-Mat emergencies, NWCD shall activate a group callback for all Haz-Mat Technicians.
- For fire investigation:
- The Incident Commander may request a fire investigator to respond to the scene for cause and origin determination.
Uniform and Equipment
- All personnel reporting to a callback must be attired in their normal work uniform or change into it upon arriving at their assigned station prior to becoming available for callback duty.
