Study Notes

Consists of button-up shirt, polo shirt, uniform pants, shoes, and belt
Button-up shirt:
- Department issued, long or short sleeve
- Navy blue for firefighters, white for lieutenants, captains, and chief officers
- Department patch on left sleeve, American flag on right sleeve
- Shirt badge and nameplate must be worn at all times
Polo shirt:
- Department issued, long or short sleeve
- Navy blue for firefighters, white for lieutenants, captains, and chief officers
- Department insignia embroidered over left breast
- Appropriate rank, first initial, and last name embroidered over right breast
Uniform pants:
- Department issued, navy blue cargo or non-cargo style
- Black belt, 1 3/4", with a silver buckle, gold for chief officers
Shoes:
- Black leather, plain toe, lace-type or slip-on
- Members' rank, first initial, and last name stitched on the right front breast
- Department Maltese stitched on the left front breast

5.11 Quarter Zip Job Shirt:
- Navy blue, with department insignia embroidered on left breast
- Appropriate rank, first initial, and last name on right breast
- Embroidering shall be silver, gold for chief officers
Department T-shirt:
- Blue for firefighters, white for officers
- Allowed when standard uniform shirt is not required
- Must be clean, tucked in pants, and void of any defects
Mock Turtleneck:
- Optional, worn under long sleeve button-up shirt, long sleeve polo shirt, or 5.11 quarter zip job shirt
- Must match the color of the shirt being worn over it
- H.E.F.D. embroidered on the collar
Hats:
- Dark blue Fire Department approved baseball cap with insignia
- Watch cap or trooper style hat allowed when weather dictates and approved by company officer

T-shirt:
- Department issued, navy blue or white
- Silk-screened with H.E.F.D. emblem and "Hoffman Estates Fire" on the back
Shorts:
- Department issued, navy blue
- Silk-screened with H.E.F.D. emblem on the left leg
Sweatshirt:
- Department issued, crew neck, long sleeved, navy blue
- Silk-screened with H.E.F.D. emblem on the left breast and "Hoffman Estates Fire" on the back
Sweatpants:
- Department issued, navy blue
- Silk-screened with H.E.F.D. emblem on the left leg
Shoes:
- White or black athletic tennis shoes are acceptable

Consists of blouse, pants, shirt, regulation shoes, socks, tie, and cap
Blouse:
- Sleeve stripe: nylon braid, 1/2 inch wide, made with two vellums to simulate navy thread lace
- Patches: department patch sewn on left sleeve, American flag on right sleeve, field forward
- Silver border for rank below Chief Officers, gold border for Chief Officers
