Responsible Parties
- All company officers and involved firefighters must adhere to this guideline
Apparatus Exhaust Systems
- Diesel and gasoline apparatus must be properly connected to station exhaust recovery systems when operational
- Exhaust system connection allows for:
- Daily pump tests (with caution to avoid overheating)
- Other related activities within the apparatus bay
Station Procedures
- A. In Quarters
- Ensure exhaust hose is connected to apparatus before starting the vehicle
- B. Responding from Quarters
- Slowly pull vehicle from apparatus bay onto the ramp
- Monitor rear-view mirror for disconnection of exhaust hose
