Jenson Nicolas (1420-1481) : exporter en Europe la nouvelle technologie d’impression venue d’Allemagne, créateur de la référence typographique latine appelée « romain ».
Grifo Francesco (1470-1518) : typographe florentin, créateur de la police Bembo (1495) et de la première bas de casse italique (1501).
Garamont Claude (1499 ?– 1561) : créateur de la police Garamond (1544), un des caractères typographiques les plus réputés.
