- The allied health care team:
- Consists of midwives that have completed midwifery training
- Works in a private setting which is owned by corporations or groups and usually relies on donations and solicitations
Healthcare Organization
- An organization is any collection of parts working together to achieve a common goal.
- Healthcare organizations can have the following:
- Mission statement: outlines the hospital’s business, objectives and method to reach them.
- Customers:
- Outside customers are: patients, families, physicians, community members
- Inside customers are: members of other departments, coworkers, radiologists.
- Moments of truth: are the points at which patients form perceptions about the quality of service and care
- Hospital Organization:
- The board of trustees oversees the hospital's daily operations and budgets.
- The executive administration is responsible for:
- Empathy: understanding and accepting others’ positions
- Data: conflicts may stem from lack of information, different interpretations, and various assessments
- Values: conflicts may relate to day-to-day values, self-definition
- Relationship: Conflicts may stem from misperceptions, stereotypes, and poor communication
- Structural: Conflicts may relate to how a situation is set up, who is involved in making decisions, and unequal power and authority
Becoming a Radiologic Technologist
- To be an effective radiologic technologist it is important to:
- Be self-aware
- Consider your own approach and that of others
- Seek out trusted individuals to discuss potential solutions
- Think about who may challenge your perspective
- Raise the issue:
- Raise an issue only when it is important or personally affects you
- Commit to a change in your own behavior that contributes to resolution
- Use specific examples to limit confusion
- Use “I” language to reduce defensiveness.
- Follow up:
- Follow up with others to assess if change has been made
- Be self-aware
- Critical thinking may be hindered by factors such as:
