Verb Tenses
- Past Simple is used to describe completed actions in the past (e.g. studied, ran, had, arrived).
- Past Perfect is used to show that one action was completed before another action in the past (e.g. had already cooked, must have scored).
- Past Simple is used for the main action, and Past Perfect is used for the completed action before it (e.g. I had already cooked when Gill offered to help).
Sentence Structure
- Use of the Past Simple and Past Perfect tenses in the same sentence to show the timeline of events.
- Use of clauses to connect related ideas (e.g. As soon as I arrived, we started eating our food).
Verb Usage
- Study is used to describe attending a university or educational institution.
- Run is used to describe participating in a race or competition (e.g. the 100m).
- Cook is used to describe preparing food.
- Score is used to describe achieving a goal or point in a game or competition.
