Place
- This theme explores the characteristics of a location.
- Physical Characteristics: Includes landforms (mountains, rivers), climate, vegetation, wildlife, and soil
- Human Characteristics: Includes languages, customs, and beliefs.
Location
- This theme helps us understand where things are or are located.
- Absolute Location: The exact location of a place on a map, using latitude and longitude, street addresses, or specific details.
- Relative Location: Describes a location in relation to landmarks, time, direction, or distance from another place.
Region
- This theme focuses on the physical and human characteristics that distinguish one place from another.
- These characteristics help us understand the unique nature of places on Earth.
Movement
- This theme examines how people, products, information, and ideas move around the Earth.
- Diffusion is an important concept in movement, referring to the spread of these elements.
- Migration is the movement of people from one location to another, driven by push factors (reasons to leave) and pull factors (reasons to move to a new place).
Human-Environment Interaction
- This theme analyzes the positive and negative effects of human interaction with their surroundings.
