General Administrative Guidelines - Valid Driver's License/Permit
- Effective since October 1, 2010; applies to all KCFD personnel.
- Purpose: Ensure all personnel operating KCFD vehicles have valid driving permits from their state of residence.
- Guidelines are supplementary and do not replace existing regulations or ordinances.
Reporting Loss of Driving Privileges
- Personnel must notify KCFD immediately if they lose driving privileges while on duty.
- Reports should be made to the Battalion Chief/Manager/ADC or Deputy Chief/Assistant to the Fire Chief upon reporting for duty.
- Loss of driving privileges must be communicated up the chain of command to the Assistant to the Fire Chief for Human Resources.
Restrictions on Driving
- Personnel without legal driving privileges must decline any orders to drive or work overtime in a driving capacity for emergency vehicles.
- Individuals who have lost driving privileges are restricted from working overtime or out of class until reinstatement occurs.
- Holdover duties are permitted and mandatory for affected personnel.
Random Checks and Compliance
- Monthly random computer checks will verify driving privileges of 20 personnel.
- Employees are required to provide their driver's license number to supervisors upon request for the review process, especially non-Missouri residents.
