  • If multiple members commence employment on the same day, the seniority ranking relies on ranking from the eligibility list used for appointment.
  • Continuous service is broken when a member quits, is discharged for just cause, or retires.
  • Termination can result from being absent for 3 working days without notifying the employer, failing to respond to a recall notice or not reporting after authorized leave.
  • Suspensions of 30 days or less do not affect continuous service.
  • Unpaid leave of 30 days or less, duty, occupational and/or ordinary disability benefits, do not affect continuous service.
  • Military leaves do not break in continuous service, unless permitted by state and federal law

Grievance Procedures

  • A grievance is defined as any difference, complaint, or dispute regarding the application, meaning, or interpretation of an express provision of the Agreement.
