Purpose and Scope

Applies to all Fire Rescue personnel and reservists.

Authority and Responsibility

Led by the Fire Rescue Administrator with updates managed by Deputy Chief of Operations and the PPM Committee.
In partnership with Children’s Home Society under the Project Safe Place agreement.

Safe Place Policy

All Fire Rescue stations designated as Safe Place locations for teens in crisis.
Safe Place sign must be prominently displayed outside each fire station.
Safe Place decals will show a contact number for unattended situations.

Procedures for Assisting Teens

Operational Captain responsible for maintaining access to Safe Place procedure sheets.
Teens should be provided with a safe environment until assistance arrives.
Notify Communications Center when a unit is out of service due to a youth in the station.
Contact Safe Harbor Runaway Center immediately upon receiving a teen.

Notification and Process
