Block Party Guidelines
- The Fire Department participates in block parties to promote fire safety and develop a positive attitude about the department and firefighters.
General Fire Department Activities
- Companies should report to the block party location during scheduled hours and notify the contact person if there's a scheduling conflict.
- Uniform dress should be clean and neat in appearance per Administrative SOG 006 - Dress Code.
- Companies should stay at the block party location for at least one hour, unless attendance is minimal or a specified time is indicated on the Target Solutions Calendar notification.
- Apparatus should be positioned close to the block party, but at a safe distance to avoid interfering with events and to ensure easy exit in case of an emergency.
- Personnel should remain close to department apparatus to prevent injuries and ensure no one climbs on or into the vehicles without close supervision.
Handout Materials and Information
- Each station has a bin containing public education handouts, which should be brought along for distribution.
- Additional supplies can be obtained from Firehouse 24 Public Education supply closet.
- Residents usually ask questions about Fire Department operations, while children are interested in seeing firefighter gear, hearing sirens, and seeing emergency lights.
