    Minimum Entry Level Training

    • All uniformed personnel must have at least a New Mexico EMT Basic license
    • Cadets will be trained in 16 different areas during the Fire Academy, including fire fighting, hazmat operations, emergency vehicle driving, and wildland fire behavior.
    • Cadets will complete their probation in the field, which includes an additional course in wildland fire behavior.
