Study Notes
Final Phase Evaluation
- Trainees complete a two-week final phase evaluation after four training phases before solo assignment.
- Evaluation conducted by a Police Training Evaluator (PTE).
- Recommended to take place on the same shift and sector as in Phase C or D.
- Evaluation utilizes Core Competency learning outcomes for assessment.
- An Evaluation Report is generated using the ADORE application and submitted the following week.
- If a trainee fails the evaluation, options include prescriptive training or dismissal as per Board of Evaluators (BOE) guidelines.
Learning Activity Packages (LAPs)
- LAPs encourage adult learners through independent research and discovery, emphasizing learner responsibility.
- Trainers are tasked with providing additional support for trainees struggling in specific areas.
- Creation of a LAP occurs after all reasonable training methods have been exhausted.
- LAPs focus on root causes of competencies where trainees fail to progress.
- Relevant training topics may cover drug investigations, laws, officer safety, report writing, search and seizure, and citizen interaction.
- Approval from the training coordinator is required for all LAPs, which are also forwarded to the BOE for awareness.
- Detailed instructions and examples for LAPs are found in Appendix D.
Training Extensions
- Training extensions may be needed for various reasons, documented through CTRs for both LAP and non-LAP scenarios.
- An extension may span several shifts, weeks, or an entire training phase.
- LAP-related extensions are specified on LAP forms, detailing the duration of the extension.
- Each week during a LAP extension requires a CTR focusing on relevant Core Competencies.
- Non-LAP extensions are applicable for challenges not covered by LAPs, such as injuries or approved leaves.
- If a trainee is away from training for over a week, a non-LAP extension is warranted, alongside weekly CTR completion.
- In CTRs during non-LAP extensions, reasons must be clearly stated (e.g., injury, leave).
