- Updated by the Deputy Chief of Support Services with the PPM Committee, under Fire Rescue Administrator's authority.
Emergency Vehicle Out of Service
- Immediate action required if an emergency vehicle is taken out of service due to major component failure (engine, transmission, power take-off, fire pump, etc.).
- Lieutenant or Operational Captain must:
- Contact the Communications Center for an on-call Apparatus Technician.
- Enter repair work request in AssetWorks for documentation.
- Apparatus Technician to assess repair feasibility and notify when the unit is ready for service.
- If repairs are delayed, assistance in locating a reserve unit is required.
Portable Equipment Out of Service
- For portable equipment out of service, the Lieutenant or Operational Captain must:
- Check for availability of similar spare equipment within the Battalion.
- Enter a work request in AssetWorks and place a service repair tag on the faulty equipment.
- If no spare is available, the Battalion Chief assesses the critical need before contacting an Apparatus Technician.
