Types of Assistance

Referral Methods

  • Self Referral: Recognizing the need for assistance, an employee or eligible family member contacts the EAP provider directly.
  • Indirect Referral: A concerned friend or family member contacts the EAP provider on behalf of the employee.
  • Supervisory Referral: A supervisor encourages an employee to seek help through the EAP.

Confidentiality Exception

  • Information about illegal drug use/abuse or illegal acts disclosed during EAP sessions will not be treated as confidential and will be shared with the Sheriff's Office for an Internal Affairs investigation.
