EAP Resources
- EAP resources include any help system, internal or external to the agency, providing assistance with various problems.
Types of Assistance
- Financial difficulties and personal budget problems
- Alcohol abuse
- Prescription and/or over-the-counter drug impairment
- Traumatic event support
- Marital and/or family difficulties
- Personal problems
- Emotional difficulties arising from the above issues
Family Member Definition
- A family member is considered the employee's immediate family, living with the employee, as normally covered by the employee's group insurance family plan.
Referral Methods
- Self Referral: Recognizing the need for assistance, an employee or eligible family member contacts the EAP provider directly.
- Indirect Referral: A concerned friend or family member contacts the EAP provider on behalf of the employee.
- Supervisory Referral: A supervisor encourages an employee to seek help through the EAP.
Confidentiality Exception
- Information about illegal drug use/abuse or illegal acts disclosed during EAP sessions will not be treated as confidential and will be shared with the Sheriff's Office for an Internal Affairs investigation.
Program Details
- A professional EAP has been contracted to provide free consultations to Sheriff's Office employees and eligible family members.
- Six (6) free consultations per problem, per person, per year are provided under the contract.
- The EAP provider assists in referring those needing assistance outside the scope of the program.
