  • The Science Education Institute (SEI) is part of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
  • SEI/DOST offers opportunities via scholarship programs.
  • Grade 12 students in AY 2023-2024 can apply for the E-application system.
  • Applicants for the scholarship must pass the qualifying exam and meet requirements.
  • There is a Primer intended to assist the applicants in preparing for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination.

About the Exam

  • The DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination is designed to identify individuals who will succeed in science and technology careers, aligning with the S&T human resource development plan.
  • The exam is a multiple-choice test with three parts: Creative Reasoning and Language, Science, and Mathematics.
  • Part I: Creative Reasoning and Language takes 25 minutes.
    • Sub-domains include Verbal, Spatial and Mechanical Reasoning, and Language and Literature.
  • Part II: Science takes 60 minutes.
    • Sub-domains include Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, and Space Science.
  • Part III: Mathematics takes 50 minutes.
  • Test takers cannot return to previous sections or proceed to the next during the allotted time.
  • The exam is designed to be completed in one sitting and lasts approximately three hours (including instructions).

Test Taking TIps

  • Prepare your test permit, school ID, parent waiver, pencils, an eraser, and maybe a sharpener with snacks and water the day before the exam.
  • Get enough rest the night before the exam.
  • Arrive early to know the location of your Test Center
  • Appropriate apparel is required (no shorts or slippers).
