Study Notes

Erişkin Tip Difüz Gliyal Tumorlar (Adult Type Diffuse Glioma)

  • 2021 classification: Diffusely infiltrating glioma requires IDH1 or IDH2 mutation or loss of ATRX expression or ATRX mutation, or exclusion of 1p/19q codeletion.

Glioblastom Classification

  • IDH mutant glioblastoma
  • IDH non-mutant glioblastoma
  • Giant cell glioblastoma
  • Gliosarcoma
  • Epithelioid glioblastoma

Oligodendroglioma Classification

  • IDH mutant and 1p/19q codeleted oligodendroglioma
  • IDH non-mutant oligodendroglioma
  • Anaplastic oligodendroglioma, IDH mutant and 1p/19q codeleted
  • Anaplastic oligodendroglioma, IDH non-mutant

WHO 2016 Classification Changes

  • IDH mutant diffuse astrocytoma
  • IDH non-mutant diffuse astrocytoma
  • Anaplastic astrocytoma, IDH mutant
  • Anaplastic astrocytoma, IDH non-mutant
  • Glioblastoma, IDH mutant
  • Glioblastoma, IDH non-mutant

Pediatric Type Diffuse Low-Grade Glioma

  • Diffuse astrocytoma, MYB or MYBL1 altered
  • Diffuse low-grade glioma, MAPK pathway altered
  • Diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma, IDH and histone mutated
  • High-grade glioma, IDH and histone mutated, pediatric type

Grading of IDH-Mutated Gliomas

  • Grade 2: Well-differentiated, no anaplasia, no necrosis, CDKN2A homozigot deletion not present
  • Grade 3: Focal or intense anaplasia, mitosis present, necrosis and CDKN2A homozigot deletion not present
  • Grade 4: Mitosis, vascular proliferation, necrosis, or CDKN2A homozigot deletion present

This quiz covers the essential diagnostic criteria for adult diffuse gliomas, based on the 2021 updates in classification.
