- Techniques: Pain compliance, mechanical compliance, joint manipulation to move resistant subjects. These are also used in some takedowns.
- Awareness: Be aware of weapon proximity to the subject when using escort or transporter techniques.
- Escort Position: Technique to move a subject from point A to point B without pain compliance, leveraging minimal control.
- Alternative: If resistance, switch to transporter technique.

Escort Position Steps:
- Use loud, clear verbal commands.
- Maintain the proper stance.
- Contact the subject's arm (wrist & upper arm above the elbow), grasping simultaneously.
- Turn the subject's palm towards you.
- Move the subject or follow with appropriate action. (See Figure 4-21)
- Transporters: Techniques used to move subjects with pain compliance or mechanical compliance.
- Transporter Techniques Example: Hammer lock, shoulder lock.
- Hammer Lock Transporter: Technique used when a subject pulls away from an escort position.

Hammer Lock Steps:
- Loud, clear verbal commands.
- Begin in the escort position.
- Strike or diversion may be needed.
- Mirror the controlled hand, and rotate the subject's controlled hand while sweeping the subject's hand behind.
- Maintain control by bending the wrist.
- Control the subject, or execute appropriate action. (See Figure 4-22)
- Shoulder Lock Transporter: A good controlling technique, placing subject's arm in a specific position for pain compliance, joint manipulation, and balance displacement, also usable for handcuffed subjects.

- Push the controlled arm behind the subject's back.
- Control the subject's head.
