Power of Attorney for DEA Forms 222 and Electronic Orders
- A registrant can authorize one or more individuals to issue orders for Schedule I and II controlled substances on their behalf by executing a power of attorney for each individual.
- The power of attorney must be maintained on-site at the registered location with executed Forms 222, available for inspection together with other order records.
- A registrant can revoke any power of attorney at any time by executing a notice of revocation.
Controlled Substances Schedules
- Schedule I: No currently accepted medical use, high potential for abuse, and lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision.
- Schedule II: Currently accepted medical use, high potential for abuse, and severe psychological or physical dependence.
- Examples of Schedule II controlled substances include tapentadol, lisdexamfetamine, hydrocodone products, and anabolic steroids.
- Schedule III: Currently accepted medical use, abuse potential less than Schedule I and II, and moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence.
