The code aims to ensure patients are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
It promotes best practice and protects the public by ensuring high-quality, compassionate healthcare.

Healthcare Support Workers (HCWs) must provide high-quality, compassionate healthcare, care, and support.
HCWs are responsible for ensuring their conduct does not fall below the standards detailed in the Code.
Nothing an HCW does or omits to do should harm the safety and wellbeing of people who use health and care services.

Be accountable by making sure you can answer for your actions or omissions.
Promote and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health, and wellbeing of people who use health and care services.
Work in collaboration with colleagues to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare.
Communicate in an open and effective way to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of people who use health and care services.
Respect a person's right to confidentiality.
Strive to improve the quality of healthcare through continuing professional development.
Uphold and promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Gives people confidence that they will be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
Helps the public understand what standards they can expect of Healthcare Support Workers.

Helps employers understand what standards they should expect of Healthcare Support Workers.
Helps identify workers who do not meet these standards and their support and training needs.

Be honest with yourself and others about your abilities and limitations.
Behave and present yourself in a way that does not call into question your suitability to work in a health and social care environment.
Be able to justify and be accountable for your actions or omissions.
Always ask for guidance if unsure about any aspect of your work.
