    Sentence Classifications

    • A simple sentence consists of a single independent clause.
    • A compound sentence contains two independent clauses connected by a conjunction; remember FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).
    • A complex sentence includes at least one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
    • A compound-complex sentence has two independent clauses, connected by a conjunction or semicolon, along with one or more dependent clauses.

    Types of Connective Words
