Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma

The Cherokee Nation is one of three federally recognized tribes within Oklahoma state, United States. It was first established as a political entity by the Treaty of New Echota in 1846. Today it operates on more than two million acres of land across northeastern Oklahoma, with headquarters located near Tahlequah.
